Red Dancing Quiet
Full color Dharma Wheel artist's print
Available framed or unframed
Buddhist monasteries are filled with bright, aged colors -- usually primary colors -- painted on wood ornaments, decorative architectural details, tapestries, wall hangings, furniture and more. Gold borders trim everything. Sunlight bursts across the yellow metal during the day. Night reflects silver highlights from the same gold. A patina hums across every surface.
The color red, on a continuum between maroon and orange, warms everything it touches. By itself, it doesn’t move. Embraced by gold curves, they can become male and female forms swaying. They become attached and powerful in a way that isn’t otherwise possible.
My practice is imperfect in large measure because I don’t seek to eliminate attachment. I value the love of my family and friends. I feel love. Loud music, conceptual art, curveballs, spaghetti, , books and running capture my imagination and I have no desire to release them. Enlightenment, then, is likely several lifetimes away and that’s okay.
