This wheel was inspired by the difference between a memory and a rememberance of daydreaming a very long time ago.

For painter's, a studio's northern exposure is a much sought after feature because the shadows cast by natural light don't really change over the course of the day. Between 1980 and 1984, while attending Tyler School of Art, there were several large painting studios with giant window banks that covered over 2000 square feet. The windows faced the sky at a 45 degree angle and, on a sunny day, if you looked up, all you could see was blue. On cloudy days, the dirty grey clouds seemed translucent. The bank was raised over 15 feet above the floor of the studio.

Within one hundred yards of the windows was a drab apartment complex. If you stood in the studio, you couldn't see the complex though. When standing in the studio, I used to envision a sprawling valley that dropped off several hundred meters from the  side of the building with mountains rising in the distance. My vision was stark and repeated with, perhaps, a subliminal desire to live in that kind of environment.

Just down the hall from the studio was a lithography studio. Inside, three presses held three large litho stones that, if used properly, could render beautiful images. The thing about lithography is that the image one draws on a stone is a mirror of the final image. At that time, one of the most famous and respected lithography studios on the planet was named Tamarind. The image in my mind's eye of the view from the windows of the Tamarind studio was akin to the the imagined view from the painting studio.

Memories and daydreams.
