Inspiration
The belfry at the top of the Washington Memorial Chapel, in Valley Forge National Park, houses a massive carillon. Legend holds that it's operation requires a rare musical gift in order to render its haunting sounds that echo for miles in every direction. To be sure, many human beings are gifted with the ability to play multiple instruments. In the case of the carillon, the ability to practice is infrequent because access is limited, and because the carillon's music extends far into the distance. Unlike Sonny Rollins, the jazz saxophonist, who could walk to the middle of the Williamsburg Bridge to practice after dark, a musician pursuing mastery of the carillon must share their practice with the world.
This Dharma Wheel, like most, is quiet--but what if it wasn't--and what if there was a bridge those who seek mastery could climb after dark.
