Imperfect Identical Hieroglyph
Full color Dharma Wheel artist's print
A sentence rendered by a string of hieroglyphs must be one with a distinct purpose. The effort required to craft that sentence is significant and, more often than not, requires stone to be chiseled. Storytelling must be direct and to the point, with all extraneous information culled. In this context, I've often wondered if poetry exists in such an ancient language.
The difference between a chisel and a quill - or a paintbrush - is profound. The written versions of several Eastern languages are built around the use of pictographs, many of which are as old as hieroglyphics. The pictographs are fluid and poetic, not just in the way they allow stories to be told, but in how they are drawn with a brush or a quill.
This wheel is my poem - and a personal hieroglyph - rendered with a quill, in purple.
