Zen Spot #80 --  Mindfulness, meditation and a billion miles of prayer flags February 2, 2018 00:05

Perhaps the aspect of the Buddhist path I love most is its ability to host paradox and logic equally well.

One voice is no different than one million voices. One mind is no different than one million minds. One mile is no different than one million miles.

If the average length of a set of Tibetan prayer flags is 5 feet, each with five flags, it would take 1056 sets of flags, connected end to end, to cover a one mile distance. One billion miles would require 1,056,000,000,000 sets of flags — 5,280,000,000,000 flags.

Is it possible that, over the course of history, enough prayers have been said to cover one billion miles?
